The Llangunllo Evergreens 2014 Program of Events
Llangunllo Evergreens is a well established organisation in Llangunllo and was set up to provide activities each year in the Hall and also several coach outings for OAPs in the village. It is currently run by Ken Maggs in the Chair with his wife as the Secretary with a few other committee members. This year we have 58 members, few of whom now live in the village as some years ago when numbers had dropped considerably for a variety of reasons, we were approached by some Knighton pensioners who wondered if they could join our club. Our numbers have since increased gradually in recent years largely because two OAP clubs in Knighton sadly came to an end with the demise of their organisers.
In 2014 the season began in April with the AGM and programme planning tea in Knighton. This year we have organised three whole day outings to Aberystwyth, Bridgnorth and Worcester and four half-day trips to Hereford, Oakchurch Garden Centre, Leominster and the Elan Valley. In addition in October we had our annual fund-raising coffee Morning in Knighton Church Hall with all the usual stalls. The last event of the year will be the Christmas Dinner in December at the Horse & Jockey in Knighton with a Christmas present and card for all members as part of the seasonal treat. This year's subscription has been £7 but as in all organisations this rate will be subject to review at next April's AGM.
Llangunllo Evergreens is a happy group of pensioners and everyone enjoys the events organised with willing to help in many different ways to ensure everything runs smoothly.
